A Message from President Perry Fuchs

Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Plainedge Federation of Teachers,

As we approach the start of winter recess, it is a time for reflection, celebration, and the excitement that comes with the holiday season. This year, as we come together with our friends and families, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of supporting our fellow union workers and the broader labor movement.

One of the most powerful ways we can show solidarity and make a difference this holiday season is by choosing to buy union-made products. When we buy items that are made by union workers, we are directly supporting fair wages, safe working conditions, and the values of justice and equality that our union stands for. By purchasing union-made products, we help strengthen the workers' rights movement, ensuring that hard-working people receive the respect and compensation they deserve.

From clothing and toys, to home goods and food, there are countless products that are union-made. Please visit the AFL-CIO for a comprehensive list of holiday gift items which are union-made. This holiday season, I encourage everyone to check labels and shop with intention. Our choices can make a lasting impact on the lives of working families, including many of our brothers and sisters in the labor movement.

As we enter 2025, let's carry the spirit of unity and solidarity with us in everything we do. Together, we will continue to advocate for quality education, fair compensation, and safe working environments for all. Our dedication, work, and commitment to our students and the Plainedge community as a whole are truly inspiring, and I am proud of the amazing work our members do every day.

On behalf of our entire PFT leadership team, I want to wish all of our members and their loved ones a very happy and healthy holiday season. May you find joy in the company of family and friends, and may the New Year bring renewed hope and opportunity for us all.

Happy Holidays!
In solidarity,
Perry
